FAQ's

Can the Rugged Video Camera work outdoors in all weather?
Yes, most definitely. It was designed specifially to work in the maritime port environment. The camera housing is double gasket sealed and Nitrogen filled to prevent moisture and fogging.  It was designed to meet IP67 and is tested to IP65.  It is small, light and rugged and can be easily mounted on light poles, towers, buildings or virtually any structure. Units have been operational in the Port of Los Angeles for more than 3 years.

How does the video from the camera get to our computers?
The RVC-4 Rugged Video Camera normally connects to a Power Supply Battery Codec Unit (PSBCU) for power and to convert the video to digital (TCP/IP).  This Ethernet LAN signal can then connect to the Video Control Server (VCS-4) in three primary ways:

   (1) using a Cat-5 cable (up to 150m/500 ft);

   (2) using a fiber optic cable and Ethernet modems (up to 650m/2,000 ft minimum)

   (2) with a wireless link ( to 50km/30 miles).

You show a local map on the web browser display. What is that for?
The unique feature of the system is how simple it is to control the camera using the digital map. Clicking your mouse anywhere on the map will cause the camera to immediatey go and view that place on the map. Assuming of course, that you have proper password access to the camera to make such a command.

Can I use other cameras with this system?
Yes

How secure are my client computers if the VCS-4 if it is connected to the Internet?
One server connected to the Internet acts as a firewall to other computers or servers connected to the same Local Area Network. The VCS has one IP address that can be accessed. Internal software directs any inquiry to the web page served up for public viewing (if in fact you desire to serve up a public access web page from the VCS). The LAN computers, however, are directed to a different web page containing the camera control interface and image storage functions. If you have been attacked before we can add Firewall software to the VCS as an added level of protection.
